It is the third trip to Florida and the third to the Orlando Kart Center (OKC) this month as Canadian Nathan Dupuis ramps up his karting schedule south of the border. Taking on the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) and the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour in back-to-back weekends to kick off the month, a much-needed break was rewarded this past weekend before the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour kicks off again this coming weekend.
“It is a lot of racing, but Nathan really does not want it any other way,” explained Todd Dupuis, who has been spending the past few months in Florida traveling from track to track with Nathan. “We found a good home at Speed Concepts Racing with not only their chassis knowledge and experience but both the driver preparation through their development program as well as the engine department with Speed Lab Racing Engines.”
As one of the youngest drivers in the junior ranks, Dupuis just turned twelve last week as he continues to battle drivers with years more experience who are fourteen and fifteen years old. Gaining more experience with each passing lap, Dupuis is building upon his race craft as he continues to press forward in the future.
Set to tackle the talent-filled grids of the SKUSA Pro Tour this coming weekend, Dupuis will throw his name in the mix in the KA100 Junior class during the 2023 series opener. Piloting a Speed Concepts Racing prepared Redspeed by OTK, the young Canadian is looking to make his presence felt.
“In racing we want to win every time on track. We want to be the fastest and the best, but I am learning and while my focus is on results, it is also about being the best possible driver in the future,” explained Dupuis. “Last weekend we qualified inside the top-ten but had some trouble in the heat races. In the main event, I started 27th and finished 14th so the speed is there. We just need to qualify well and stay out of trouble and the results will come.”
With a jam-packed schedule that will see Dupuis in events both north and south of the border, the Canadian driver will utilize multiple different engine platforms throughout the 2023 season competing in regional, national, and international events.
Nathan Dupuis will hit the track Thursday for unofficial practice before official sessions begin on Friday with round one of the SKUSA Pro Tour Saturday, and round two Sunday. Stay tuned to the Nathan Dupuis social media pages for news, information, photos, and results from the event weekend.
