BACK-TO-BACK WEEKENDS FOR DANE SCOTT

Competing this past weekend in the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires program, Jay Howard Driver Development’s (JHDD) Dane Scott took on the 4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America in his series debut. Returning to the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda next weekend, Scott will travel from Road America in Wisconsin to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as he competes at two of North America’s most prestigious facilities.

Coming into the USF2000 weekend with the goal of learning and progressing, Scott did just that in Friday’s qualifying sessions turning the 18th fastest lap for race one but improved in the second timed session with the 15th fastest circuit.

“It is a great learning experience for me and something that will help me continue my growth in the future,” explained Scott. “The goal is to continue to improve in the racing action, and I can’t wait to make my first USF2000 race start tomorrow.”

Returning to the track on Saturday, all that remained over on the weekend were two wheel-to-wheel races and the opportunity to move forward. Starting on the outside of row nine, it was another improvement in results as Scott kept his nose clean and gained experience with each passing lap, driving home with a 13th place result. Race two was another solid affair with a 17th place result, but a huge improvement in lap time. Closing the gap to the leaders, Scott’s fastest race lap was one second slower than his teammate Lochie Hughes over the four-mile track in his first-ever USF2000 event weekend.

“Dane accomplished exactly what we set out to do, complete every lap on his debut and improve every time he went on track,” explained Jay Howard. “I’m very happy.”

Scott added, “As a racer, I always want to win but learned so much and will look to utilize that new knowledge in future events.”

Next up for Dane Scott is a trip to the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the next round in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda this coming weekend.
