With race wins and championships on the line this coming weekend, Speed Concepts Racing will bring six Redspeed by OTK branded competitors to rounds three and four of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series. With podium results attained in the first event weekend of the program, the elite Florida karting operation will aim for the top step of the podium this weekend at the AMR Motorplex in Homestead, Florida.
Entering a pair of drivers in the X30 Senior category, Luca Mars and Luke Lange will fly the SCR flag as they look to close the series strong. Both race winners in the junior ranks in 2019 and rookies in the senior class, Mars has already shown his prowess standing on the top of the podium and claiming a handful of top-five results. Starting his 2020 SKUSA Winter Series with a fifth place result, Mars had issues in round two that saw him well down the running order. Returning this weekend for rounds three and four, the multi-time champion has a victory on his mind. Looking to make it a powerful one-two punch, Luke Lange looks to turn his speed into podium results in South Florida. Showing great speed during the opening weekend, the young Texan was engaged in several fierce mid-pack battles that slowed his momentum forward but aims to change that this weekend.
X30 Junior driver Paul Bocuse had his best weekend with the team in a long time claiming a third place podium result on Saturday and backed that up Sunday with a sixth place finish. Currently sitting fourth in the championship standings, Bocuse has an outside shot at the title should the cards fall right this weekend. Joining Bocuse in the junior ranks will be Jack Jeffers and Jace Park. Both drivers made the switch to Speed Concepts in 2019 to take advantage of their potent driver development programs and aim to put their knowledge and experience to the test this weekend. While the results during the first two rounds were not representative of their speed, look for Jeffers and Park to join Bocuse at the pointy end of the field this weekend.
Honing his skills in the Mini Swift class, Canadian Ayden Ingratta will level up to X30 Junior this weekend, providing a Speed Concepts Racing quartet in one of the toughest classes on the weekend. Utilizing the final weekend of the SKUSA Winter Series to test and prepare for the upcoming race season, Ingratta will lean on his more experienced teammates in his first wheel-to-wheel competition in junior.
“It is only February but we are within the busiest part of our karting season,” explained Mike Speed. “With another back-to-back set of race weekends as well as additional opportunities to race for the next six weeks straight, I can’t thank the entire SCR crew for their dedication, hard work, and support. We would like nothing but to add some more SKUSA Winter Series race-winning results to our resume and that is the goal for this weekend.”
Speed Concepts Racing will hit the track this coming Thursday for unofficial practice. An additional practice will take place on Friday before two complete race days on Saturday and Sunday. Stay tuned to the Speed Concepts Racing social media pages for more news, information, photos, and results.
