Descending on Las Vegas, Nevada for the annual Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, Ayden Ingratta was hoping to win one of the biggest and most competitive karting events in the world. Competing with the Speed Concepts Racing program aboard a SpeedLab Racing Engines powered Redspeed, Ingratta raced in both the KA100 Junior and X30 Junior classes over the five-day event earning a podium result on Super Sunday.
In the first main event of the weekend, Ingratta would line up on the inside of row six in his first attempt to earn a SKUSA SuperNationals title but would be forced to the sidelines before the completion of the first lap. Falling victim to contact that damaged his SCR branded Redspeed, Ingratta was out of the race on the first of the 22- lap main event.
“Difficult start to the day for us,” explained Ingratta. “Fortunately enough, we have another shot this afternoon in X30 Junior but definitely not the way we were looking for our Sunday to go.”
Back on the track later in the afternoon and starting in the tenth position, the talent filled X30 Junior division featured 44 drivers with many that had the outright pace to top the SuperNationals podium. In a field that displayed equally matched drivers running similar pace, passing was difficult as Ingratta moved from tenth to sixth before three quarters race distance. Leveling up one more position before the final checkered flag flew, Ingratta was able to stand on the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals podium in the fifth position.
Ingratta added, “Challenging weekend but we never gave up and were able to stand on the podium in X30 Junior. Thank you Speed Concepts Racing, Redspeed, SpeedLab Racing Engines and all my supporters. No time off as now I am off to Bahrain for the Rotax Grand Finals as part of Team Canada.”
Immediately following the SKUSA SuperNationals, Ingratta hopped on a plane to travel halfway around the world to Bahrain. Representing Team Canada at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, Ingratta will race in equally prepared equipment in his quest to be Grand Final Champion.
