As a former champion in Canada and the reigning Pro 1340 Blue Marble Radical Cup North America champion, Racing With Autism’s Austin Riley is set for his first event north of the border in two years. Racing alongside the NTT INDYCAR Series, Riley will take on the barrier-lined circuit around the Streets of Toronto for the Honda Indy Toronto as he battles wheel-to-wheel in rounds ten through twelve of his North American wide program.
“It is always great to race at home but in doing so, it will be a busy weekend,” explained Riley. “We have a ton of friends, family, and partners that will be in attendance and already a lot of media scheduled. I will shut all that out as I put my helmet on and look to fight for the race win in the Pro 1500 ranks.”
Looking for his first win of the 2023 season, Riley is a rookie in the Pro 1500 class but holding his own scoring several top-five finishes including a podium result at Road America. Sitting sixth in the championship, a good weekend in Toronto and some bad luck by others could propel the young driver into the point lead.
Riley added, “It will be the first time we have been on a street circuit this season so anything can happen. I do have some experience on street circuits from the past that hopefully will help me get ahead of the competition. My goal is to keep my nose clean and finish every lap of each session. If I can do that, I should be able to challenge for several podiums over the weekend.”
One of Riley’s main partners, Sparkpower, has invited all their top customers to the legendary event to show their support for Austin.
“Sparkpower has been an amazing supporter to me,” added Riley. “It will be great to have them and their customers with us in Toronto.”
Another prominent name on the side of Austin Riley’s Pro 1500 machine is 6 Sigma Sim Racing who will have a major presence in Toronto. Providing a state-of-the-art simulator for Honda Indy Toronto patrons to try, 6 Sigma Sim Racing is looking to make a splash at one of Canada’s largest events.
Riley and the rest of the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America competitors will hit the track Friday for practice prior to three wheel-to-wheel races over Saturday and Sunday.
