May 22, 2024 – The trend continues for the Cahan Racing Team (CRT) this weekend as the brother duo of Gabriel and Ayrton head to Lakeville, Connecticut, and the famed Lime Rock Park. In an event that will see no on-track action on Sunday, the New Mexico-based program will hit the track Friday for practice before battling wheel-to-wheel on Saturday and Monday.

Entering the weekend, Ayrton Cahan is on an upward trend. He earned his best result at the most recent FRP event and currently sits 13th in the overall F1600 driver championships standings, tenth if you remove the Masters drivers with additional experience. Brother Gabriel won the opening F2000 race of the season and currently sits second in the driver championship standings, a mere thirteen markers behind the current point leader.

“Mid-Ohio didn’t go as we expected as we were suffering from a clutch issue, which prevented us from starting the race on Saturday,” explained Gabriel Cahan. “It was devastating to our position in the championship, but we fought hard on Sunday and finished second, which wasn’t easy because I was under the weather and felt weak. Going into Lime Rock, I’m very anxious to repeat what we succeeded in at Road Atlanta, but I’m also excited to get back into the car and do everything we can to get a win and put us back where we started.”

“Mid-Ohio was a successful weekend overall, as we moved up the pack into the top ten,” added Ayrton Cahan. “However, following some clutch-related issues, which caused us to lose drive, we lost valuable track time and believe we could’ve been much higher up. I am looking forward to Lime Rock and another successful weekend.

Built-in 1956, Lime Rock Park is the nation’s third oldest continuously operating road racing venue and sprawls 1.53 miles long. With a pair of elevation changes and a shorter length, Lime Rock Park provides some of the closest and best racing action all year long.
