The 14-year-old Texan racing driver, Jak Crawford, has been announced to the Red Bull Junior Team. Officially announced by both the Red Bull Junior Team and Van Amersfoort Racing on Tuesday, January 28, Crawford has been named to the most successful junior racing program in the world and will begin to climb the ladder to the Formula 1 World Championship with the Austrian-based group.
As a Red Bull Athlete, Crawford has been placed with the Dutch racing team, Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR). The highly successful and enduring VAR racing program based outside of Amsterdam in The Netherlands has been the home for many up and coming Formula 1 drivers, including, most recently, Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
“I am excited the announcement has finally been made. We finished our deal back in early November, then just waited for everything to settle in place. Now, I am preparing to leave for Europe for the next eight months to join my new team,” explained Crawford. “Both the Red Bull Junior Team and VAR are winning groups, and I will push for wins and podiums in 2020.”
The American driver, who gained formula car experience in 2019 and karting experience before that, beginning his motorsports endeavors at the age six, will be competing in a Red Bull livery car contesting 42 races combined in both the 2020 Formula 4 Italian Championship and ADAC Formula 4 Championship in Germany.
