After a two-month-long break, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America program returned to racing at the famed Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas this past weekend. Alliance Racing, with drivers Andre Lagartixa and Will Edwards, brought home two top-ten finishes from the 3.246-mile, 20-turn road course.

“We are always striving to get to the top step of the podium, especially after winning earlier this season, so a weekend like this one is tough,” Alliance Racing’s Toney Edwards explained. “Still, we gave it our all this weekend and brought home a couple of top-ten finishes, which are solid results we can build on for future events.”

In a pair of qualifying sessions that set the field for the weekend’s two races, Edwards scored the team’s best starting position, earning a P12 start for race one and a P9 start for race two. Lagartixa also gave himself a top-ten starting position, earning the tenth-fastest lap and outside row five start for race one, and was just one further position back for race two in 11th.

In the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend for Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Edwards drove the #28 to an eighth-place finish while Lagartixa experienced some issues in the #25 and finished the race in 11th. Returning to the track in race two, Lagartixa earned himself a top-ten finish, crossing the finish line in ninth. Edwards finished just outside the top-ten, finishing 11th when the checkered flag flew.

“We have a few weeks before we are back on track in Indianapolis, and we’ll take that time to regroup and go over what we learned from this weekend,” Toney Edwards added. “Every weekend is a learning opportunity for us, and we will take whatever lessons we can learn and apply them to the future.”

Alliance Racing will be back on track September 20-22 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for their home event on the 2024 calendar. Stay tuned to the Alliance Racing social media pages for news, information, photos, and results throughout the rest of the season.
