A long off-season is set to come to a close next weekend on the Streets of St. Petersburg. With the opening rounds of the USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires, part of the USF Pro Championships Presented by Cooper Tires ladder program, taking place on the barrier-lined, 1.8-mile circuit and alongside the NTT INDYCAR Series, Morey is looking to make waves in his series debut as he pilots the #7 Jay Howard Driver Development entry.

“It has been a long time coming, and I have been looking forward to this weekend since the final checkered flag in 2022,” expressed Morey. “I have heard nothing but great things about the USF Pro Championships and look forward to my debut weekend in St. Pete.”

Making the move from the F4 United States Championship to the challenging USF2000 program, Al Morey will continue his climb since making the move from karts to cars just a few years ago. A front-runner in indoor karting which included a championship in 2020, Morey was introduced to Jay Howard before Jay moved him to the TaG X30 class at New Castle Motorsports Park. After getting his feet wet and winning races on the regional level, Morey quickly made the jump from karts to cars and the now 17-year-old is ready for a new challenge in 2023.

Morey added, “It won’t be easy; however,I know that my team has given me a race winning car and I intend to use that to my full advantage. The JHDD team has a lot of knowledge, a strong group of drivers, and experience that can help me progress, and I am confident that I can achieve my goal of being a top-ten competitor in the St. Petersburg GP in 2023. While the goal is to win and to be the best, there is more to racing than just that. It is also about learning, progressing, and improving my craft with each race weekend and to attain the best results possible. I know that I am in on proper team to do just that.”

Al Morey will hit the track Friday, March 3 for the single practice session in the morning before qualifying that afternoon. With a doubleheader weekend in the cards, the first wheel-to-wheel race of 2023 will take place on Saturday afternoon with race two on track Sunday morning.
