In a brand-new program confirmed and announced last week, Danny Dyszelski was on track at Barber Motorsports Park with VPX Motorsport. Racing alongside co-driver Alex Ellis in a Porsche 718 GT4 RS, the driving duo competed in the picturesque facility in the Silver class of the Pirelli GT4 America program.
“It was a good weekend and a big learning experience,” explained Dyszelski. “We closed the weekend with top-five finishes and improved from race one to two. As racers, we always want to win, but I think it was a solid debut weekend for VPX Motorsport, Alex, and myself.”
After a practice day on Friday that featured a pair of sessions, including one that was hampered by rain, Saturday saw qualifying that set the grid for both Saturday and Sunday’s wheel-to-wheel action. Clocking the third-quickest time in the Silver class for Saturday’s race, the duo progressed through the 35-lap race and crossed the line fifth.
Dyszelski continued, “A new team, car, and a new co-driver, and we finished fifth. I will take it. There is a lot to learn and a lot that Alex and I have to do to work with one another, so it was a bit of trial by fire this weekend, but I like the challenge. We will return tomorrow to improve the overall race result.”
Back to the track on Sunday and set to start race two from deep in the field, the VPX Motorsport entry had a spirited drive forward to cross the line fourth in class.
Dyszelski added, “We have some work to do to fight for race wins, but I think we have already established the speed to fight for podiums at future events. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”
