Black Sheep Racing is set to open its 2026 Porsche Sprint Challenge USA West by Yokohama Championship campaign this weekend at APEX Motor Club in Maricopa, Arizona, marking the first competitive outing of the new season for the team. Set with a two-driver lineup, Dr. David Fabi and Laura Ely will fly the Black Sheep Racing colors in their quest for race wins and podium results.
The team arrives at the season opener fresh off a successful test weekend at the same circuit, giving drivers valuable seat time and early test laps heading into race week. Among those on track was newcomer Dr. David Fabi, who joins Black Sheep Racing for the 2026 season and will compete in the Pro/Am GT3 Cup class. Dr. Fabi used the test to acclimate to both the Porsche 992.2 GT3 Cup car and the team environment as preparations ramped up for the opening rounds.
Alongside Dr. Fabi, Black Sheep Racing welcomes back returning driver Laura Ely, who will once again contest the Masters GT3 Cup class. Ely enters the season with familiarity at APEX Motor Club and a strong foundation built with the team.
“I’m really excited to kick off the season at APEX,” explained Ely. “Having the chance to test here last weekend was huge for the team’s preparation. The track is technical but rewarding, and the team has put in a lot of work over the offseason. I’m looking forward to getting the year started and seeing what we can accomplish together. Of course, we are pleased to welcome Dr. David Fabi to the Black Sheep Racing squad as we will be working together all season long with several goals to complete.”
The race weekend will begin on Friday, February 6, with practice sessions, then continue with a full doubleheader schedule, concluding on Sunday. The opening rounds will set the tone for the championship as teams and drivers look to establish early momentum.
