The Radical World Finals returns October 16th through the 22nd, at Algarve International Circuit in Portimao, Portugal this year. One Motorsports veteran driver “Indy” Al Miller looks to level up to Platinum class world champion this year after narrowly missing out on the title in Las Vegas in 2022.
Miller, piloting his #500 Blue Marble branded Radical SR10, kept close on the heels of his teammate and competitor Jon Field for the Radical Cup North America Platinum class championship title but missed the final two races of the season, throwing him out of the running. Despite missing out on the title, Indy Al would still score fourth in the championship with two wins, four runner-up results, and one more additional podium throughout the 2023 season.
In the 2022 Radical World Finals held at Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club near Las Vegas, Nevada, Miller earned a heat race win in the Platinum class and remained in the top-three throughout the rest of the event. Starting on the outside of the front row for the Championship Finale, Miller was able to turn his starting position into a podium appearance and claimed the Platinum class runner-up position in the 2022 edition of the Radical World Finals.
“The Radical World Finals are unlike any other Radical race,” explained Miller. “I looked forward to it last season and even more this year. In 2022, I was so close, and that close racing is really what makes it fun. I’m excited to take the competition across the pond this year; hopefully, I’ll get to race some new drivers from around the world who weren’t there last year. Most of all, I’m looking forward to meeting other Radical competitors and showing them how strong the North American competition is. Even though the competition is tough, Radical owners are almost like a family, and the World Finals is like a family reunion.”
Entering the World Finals as one of the most decorated Radical competitors in the United States, Indy Al was the 2018 and 2020 Pro 1500 North American Champion before adding his third title in 2021 as the Platinum Class Champ. In 2018, Miller earned enough championship points to earn the Radical Cup North America Overall Championship alongside his Pro 1500 title. With the most podiums in Radical Cup North America history, Miller was the 2008 Pro National Runabout Champion and is a 24-Hours of Sebring Class Champion.
This year’s Radical World Finals in Portimao, Portugal will see a similar schedule to last year’s with a testing day and a few practice sessions before competitors run three separate heat races followed by the final World Finals race.
